We hired Hoosier Hardwood to refinish our 120-year-old floors — a mix of repair, replacement of a few damaged spots, and a full recoat. We were initially told the project would take about a week, which felt reasonable given the scope.

When we saw the floors after the first coat, they looked beautiful at first glance. However, there was one section where the subfloor hadn’t been properly addressed and it left the boards spongy and unstable. We were told that was the “best they could do,” but after asking them to revisit it, they were able to fix it in about fifteen minutes — which made it clear the issue could have been handled correctly the first time.

That mistake extended the project into a second week, leaving us displaced from our home with our dogs, eating out daily, and driving much farther to and from work. Those extra days cost us significantly more in food, gas, and stress than we anticipated.

While the floors do look beautiful now, the overall experience was frustrating. We feel the delay and inconvenience could have been avoided with more care and better communication, and it’s disappointing that no discount or goodwill gesture was offered after their oversight.

Unfortunately, even though Hoosier Hardwood came highly recommended to us, we wouldn’t recommend them to others based on our experience.
