A few months ago my truck was overheating. I took it to a shop near my office that sells tires, plus they say they can do auto service. After telling me that it was a simple $60 check-valve repair, I gave them authorization to fix the truck. A few hours later they called to say that the check-valve was rusted into my intake manifold, and that it had broken off when they tried to remove it. So they said that I would need a new manifold, and quoted me $1200. After negotiating with them for a while, I finally got them to make a temporary repair so I could get the truck out of their shop. I took it to Randy and told him what happened. Randy said "yeh, that happens all the time." Then he pulled the exact part out of his toolbox to show me where it had broken. He then pulled a tool out of his box and said, "When that happens, you take this tool, and slowly back the broken part out." In the end, Randy was able to fix my truck for about 10 of what that chain that sells tires, plus auto repair wanted to charge. Randy is one of the most honest mechanics I've ever met. Do not hesitate to go there for any repairs.
