Econo Air

It’s Complicated

I’ve been a customer for nearly 20 years.
I’ve paid Econo-Air for a bi annual tune up That entire time.
I’ve always appreciated their consistency in following up to schedule those appointments.
Their technicians have routinely been professional, courteous and thorough.
With that said, I was confounded with my most recent experience.
To say I was treated badly would be an understatement.
I upgraded my thermostats to Nest three years ago. Econo did not install them. I noticed upon turning them on A “Delayed” message and while the system eventually worked and did what I needed it to do it took a lot longer — stopping and starting and delaying.

Over those three years I repeatedly mentioned the issue to the Econo tech when having my bi-annual checkups. I received a simple explanation: “oh, your system isn’t really compatible with Nest.”

Well, I’ve come to discover that was not true. I found an article online which offered a simple explanation and a simple fix to the problem revolving around wiring. When I brought this info to Econo’s scheduling team they were dismissive, condescending, and actually nasty. I literally had to beg them to give the article to a technician that was coming to my home.

The technician followed the instructions in the article and that solved the problem completely. He thanked me for giving him the info and said it would now help other customers with the same problem.

I’ve requested to speak to the owner of Econo Air, Mike, no less than four times and I’ve been told he’s too busy to speak to me. I’m the energy of a 20 year old system and I’ll be needing a new one sooner than later. $15-20k to spend and the owner doesn’t want to follow up with me? Likely I’ll be taking my business elsewhere when this system dies. Pretty bad business practice.
