installation problem.

I purchased 4 rooms of carpeting with new padding. 2 rooms to be installed separately. I chose Michael's because of your reputation and reviews. Your installer placed my new carpeting over old carpeting and did not install my new padding! I only discovered this by the "feel" of the difference in the 2 rooms. I was not even questioned by your installer if the old carpeting should be torn out!
I purchased padding for all 4 rooms surely this was on a work order.
Your salesman Bill Reed was very accommodating and came to my house to inspect the work after I stopped in your showroom with my concerns. I felt I was deceived and the "easy way out" was taken by your installer. My time is also valuable. The work had to be done again which was an inconvenience to my work schedule and my effort since all the items in this room had to be moved again.
I was given an apology and told "we won't charge you for the tear out". This was poor customer service. Many people have asked me what company did this work? When you returned a few weeks later to install my last 2 rooms the same installer arrived. How insensitive to send the same installers , how could I trust the work was done properly? I had not purchased carpeting in years and this was a terrible experience not what I expected from a store of your quality.

Gay Gambrell purchased 4 rooms of carpet, pad and installation, 2 of which to be installed at one time and the other two were scheduled for a later time. After taking up the old carpet from one of the bedrooms, unexpectedly, he found glued down carpet instead of old pad. It was poor judgement of the installer to decide to lay over the pre-existing glued down carpet. The installer should have called the store immediately to be advised. Is it possible that the customer would want her carpet installed over this glued down carpet as it was? Or, would she want the glued down carpet scraped up? Instead of calling, he unfortunately decided to go over it as it had been done before. When the customer came in to report a “different feeling” in that room, we did an immediate inspection, and scheduled the re-installation of that room which included the scrape up of the old glued down carpet. We are sorry, strive to learn from our mistakes and continue to pursue excellence in all we do.
