Acura TL trans was dead

Tow service fine, a good contractor. Took 2 days to diag transmission. Took 2 more days to rebuild trans. Picked up on Saturday. Noticed during w/e that gear indicator lights on dash not working and manual selectronic mode not working. Called Todd (owner) the next week. He said dash light bulbs probably already out when we took car in. Then I told him they work b/c I can shake gear lever to make the lights flick on and that selectronic was working before trans dead. He was very defensive and said to bring in. He keep car 2 more days. We picked up car and noticed next day that cover for OBD connector (on center console) was missing. They use OBD reads to help diag trans and to clr any related errors. We saw that someone actually place a paper card over the hole to cover the obvious hole. Called Todd again. He denied any POSSIBLE fault and made us do thorough search of car interior, twice. Then he reluctantly said he will by new one. Waited another day for one to come in. Of course he made us go pick it up. Overall, very bad experience. As owner, Todd never said "sorry" nor any apology. Very arrogant, defiant and defensive. He does not return phone msgs left for him. He does not value customer opinions. I hope this trans does not die during warranty period, b/c I do not like to deal with lying, unrespectful people, esp if they are the shop owners.

We certainly should not have delivered this car without insuring that the shift lever was correctly adjusted and that the plastic cover was properly installed. These items have been added to our pre-delivery check list.
Even though we quickly resolved his specific problems, this customer's primary frustration is with how we reacted to him. Todd (who is our Manager, not the owner) and I have discussed this disappointing review. I am very proud that Todd's customer service, communication skills and especially integrity are major strengths of our shop as frequently mentioned in reviews on this site, Google, Yahoo, Yelp and Superpages.com. Nevertheless, we failed to meet this customer's expectations, so we will work even harder in the future to deal constructively with any similar issues so they do not rise to this level of dissatisfacton.
As always, I invite every customer to discuss with me any aspect of his experience with our shop, especially if he or she is not completely satisfied.
Mike Bauer, owner.
