Sound of Tri-State

Unsatisfied and disappointed

I recently went to sound of tri state to get a system installed for my car. I was suggested to get a 750w amp and was told anything over that was going to blow my subs unless I upgraded them to the next series. I insisted that I had the same subs installed in my old car to a 1200w amp and they were just fine. I figured they were the professionals and know what they are talkin about so I went with the 750w amp. After the install was complete I checked everything out and from what it looked like to me it was a clean install and mount job on the amp. But when I got in my car to turn it on there was a knocking n rumbling noise for about 10 seconds coming from my subs. I didn’t think nothing of it just maybe it’s the subs getting power from starting the car. But it did it every time I started my car I became a little curious of what it could be. I had the system for about 2 weeks and wasn’t satisfied with the sound. So I called sound of tristate and wanted to see if I could swap the 750w amp out for a 1200w amp. They said they could do that but insisted I purchase the next level subs because I would blow the ones I have. I told them I would start with the amp and go from there. I felt like they just wanted me to keep spending money and wasn’t giving up that I need to upgrade subs or they will blow. So I did some research of my own and found out the subs I had were capable of handling the power from a 1200w amp so I didn’t worry. Before the install was complete I was notified and warned that my subs will blow with in the next couple weeks with the new set up I was getting. I just figured that this is a money hungry company and if they could persuade a customer to spend more money they would so I didn’t take their bait. And wouldn’t you no about 4 or 5 days later my subs blew. I couldn’t believe since I just got in the car and only had the volume about half way. But like a stated before when I would turn the car on there would be knocking and rumbling coming from the subs. So I took my car to a different licensed Business that does audio work to look at it. They had my car for 10 minuets before calling me and stating that the install was done incorrectly witch resulted in my subs blowing. I immediately felt like this was done on purpose so I could spent more money and upgraded like they wanted me to do in the beginning. Unless the techs at sound of tristate don’t know what they are doing and just throwing anything together to get you in take your money and get you out. The shop stated that “ the install was done incorrectly with loc done to rear speakers with anc. Moved loc to front speakers and disconnected anc” and they installed my new subs and since they fixed the incorrect install job sound of tristate Gave me the knocking and rumbling noise from my subs disappeared. I would like if sound of tristate could make this right with some sort of reimbursement considering the amount of money I spent with them and the time I wasted running around trying to fix the problems they created. I’m seriously thinking about contacting the better business bureau just so no one has to go threw the nonsense I’ve been threw dealing with them.
