Our tax return last year was more complicated than usual because we cashed in some stock options for the first time. We tried to prepare it ourselves as we usually do but were not sure that we were doing it correctly. We decided to find a preparer and chose Jackson Hewitt based on the recommendation of my husband's co-worker.

The tax preparer was knowledgeable and helpful during the process. We were glad for the assistance and mailed off our returns and checks feeling relief that we'd used their service. About six weeks after we had mailed our state return, we received a letter from the state of LA informing us that we had overpaid along with a check for around $200. We were glad that the error had been found and rectified but we were not happy that the preparer at Jackson Hewitt had made the error in the first place.
