I took my car to this shop after being referred by a friend of mine who said the owner there was trustworthy and reliable for a good quote. I had a suspicious noise coming from under the hood and it turned out that the belt was about to snap as a result. This man looked up my car on his computer and quoted me almost $400 for the job. When I told my boyfriend how much it would be he said, "that's impossible," and we promptly called my brother, who tinkers with cars, and asked if he could do it. The owner at A-1 said the belt would cost almost $200 new; we bought them from Autozone for less than half of that and my brother had them put on in two hours (when A-1 said it would take at least six hours because they'd have to raise the engine, etc., which my brother did not have to do). Several days later I returned to A-1 to let the owner know that I'd gotten the job done perfectly for $150 (had to pay my brother SOMETHING) and when I asked him why he quoted me $400, he acted like I'd given him the wrong vehicle information when prompted which was just insult to injury because, according to him, I evidently don't know what kind of car I drive.

Those people are shady liars, trying to make a fast buck on vulnerable people that think they can trust them and they don't deserve any business as a result.
