No professionalism

I’m extremely dissatisfied with my dogs boarding at this vet. I had my two dogs stay here over New Years (December/January 2017).

In summary: They give one price beforehand and will add other charges and do things like give extra shots your dog doesn’t need and add services without your consent, then of course charge you for it.

Longer version: Called ahead and asked pricing for my dogs. Got the flat rate. Fine. Asked if there was extra charge for medication administration, they said no. One of my dogs needs two pills once a day at the moment. They said they just need proof of vaccinations, which i had everything just done in September 2017. They did mention that there was a mandatory sanitary bath required at the beginning of their stay for fleas and ticks prevention, which is $24. I told them my dogs just had a bath and they couldn’t get baths often because skin conditions. They said it’s at discretion of vet. Vet needs to see dogs before they’re dropped off.

Day of, called again and confirmed pricing, gave same price, said no charge for medication administration. I show up and it took over an hour process. They never entered our info beforehand so they had to do it all while we’re there. Then waiting to see the doc. I asked about price AGAIN, gave me same price and said same thing about medication, no charge. Just to let them know what needs to be done. Perfect. Finally doctor sees my dogs. Approved of them not getting a bath because they’re clean and flea and tick free. He wrote it on each of their charts.

I called a few days later for an update and they said they’re doing fine. When we go to pick them up, they said they had to give them baths anyways because they soiled themselves, $24/each. Didn’t advise us beforehand, not even a call. My dogs did NOT look like they were bathed at all. They had gunk on them and smelled like pee. Obviously if they were that bad, they must’ve not been taken out like they said they would.

Then they said they charged for the medication administration, an additional $24... we explained that we were never told about it and they said they always charge. But no one EVER told us about this beforehand. Then they mention that they had to give them each a $10 corona vaccine and that they need to follow up in 2 weeks for the second round, another $10 each. Never did they tell us this vaccine was needed nor did they ask my permission to give them these vaccines. We gave them their records when we checked in and they said everything was fine. That really upset me. You could’ve at least called... that’s what the emergency contact is for. And it wasn’t an emergency procedure or something that they had to do to save their lives and didn’t have time to call... they were “preventative vaccines.”

Overall, i ended up paying way more than budgeted for and i would’ve been better off taking them to the boarding i always take them to by my house and paid the $20/day, and it includes a free sanitary bath for any dogs staying more than 3 days. And my dogs smell amazing when i pick them up so it’s evident they’ve been bathed. Never again will i take them here. Very disappointing.
