Thank You Hearing Doctors
I was referred to the Sterling office of the Hearing Doctors for an evaluation of hearing loss by my ENT physician about 14 months ago. I have had appointments several times with Dr. Wilcox and most recently with Dr. Himler for hearing tests and for fitting my new hearing aids. My mild to moderate hearing loss has been greatly improved with the hearing aids. The quality of the treatments and service I have received has been excellent. No hassles, no hard sells, no problems. About a month ago, my neurologist advised me to get tested for dizziness, vertigo, and balance issues I have experienced for a long period of time. Testing for these issues is done by the Hearing Doctors. I scheduled a test called a videonystagmography (VNG). The test takes about 2 hours. It is quite a complex test with a succession of components designed to determine what causes the dizziness. It doesn't hurt at all but can be a bit disconcerting because it's unlike anything you have previously experienced. I absolutely want to give a big shout out to Carla. She was the technician who administered the test. She did a fantastic job of ensuring I was comfortable at all times and kept me well informed of what to expect. A very interesting experience. Turns out I have benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). Not to worry. It's quite common and can be fixed or significantly improved by doing some therapeutic exercises that can be done at home. Thank You Hearing Doctors!
