I first got hearing aids in 2010, and my husband had to beg me to wear them for group dinners, parties, etc. They kept falling out of my ear canal, itched, and I hated wearing them, and wore the as little as possible. They made a difference, but not enough to be worth the trouble. My new Phonak hearing aids which I got about a month ago with Dr. Linda Himler, are amazing! They have opened up a whole new world of sound out there for me, and I can't wait to put them on in the morning. In addition to hearing voices and understanding speech better, I am hearing the world in a way I had forgotten existed. I have worn them all day every day ever since I got them. And no more teeny tiny batteries to deal with...getting them replaced, dropping them on the floor, and putting them in and out of the tiny hole in the aids. My new aids are rechargeable; just put them in their little cubbies at night, and they are all recharged and ready to go the next morning. The charge supposedly lasts for twenty four hours, but I have not yet had occasion to take them to their limit. And another neat feature is their volume control with a little button behind each ear. Since I got these new aids, my husband likes the TV louder than I do, so I just turn down my hearing aids volume and he can keep the TV at his preferred loudness. Dr. Himler was so good about answering all my little questions in two separate visits, and made sure everything was just right! She is fabulous!
