An incredible company!
I was referred to Heirloom Oriental Rug Cleaning by the The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art. I own a three foot by three foot Navajo Yai rug, the Corn People, which I received from my parents. It is about 130 years old, an heirloom, and very fragile. It had never been cleaned before. It has been hanging in my home for over 30 years, and I always wanted to get it cleaned, but was afraid that it would be damaged. It is appraised for over $200,000, and when I took it to the Eiteljorg Museum to seek information on cleaning it, they said it might cost around $7,000 to professionally clean the rug, and the only people they trusted to do it was Heirloom Oriental Rug Cleaning.
I took it to Heirloom, and they carefully analyzed the rug. There were over 20 different organic dyes, mostly created from different seeds and other organic substances, used for coloration. Heirloom was able to test each of the colors, and understand how a cleaning process might affect the underlying substance. There was no charge for this service. They were then able to clean the rug, and get out all the age-related damage, and the accumulated tobacco odor from me smoking in the house.
I was completely shocked by the results. The rug looked absolutely new! It was just amazing. I could not believe it. Since then, I have had them clean a Persian rug for me, and do a few other odd jobs. I have also highly recommended Heirloom Oriental Rug Cleaning to my friends and family.
I am not sure that I can adequately express the wonderful results. My home is like an art gallery, with different motifs in different rooms. My family room is where I display the Native American artifacts, like weavings, and pottery, and the Yai rug. I am very proud of my collection. I expected a professional job. I received just that. And the price was not in the $7,000 range as estimated by the The Eiteljorg Museum, but less than $150. Just incredible.
