My experience with Floorgem Services was mixed. Ultimately, the work was beautifully done, and the stairs and hallway all look great, but there were a few small problems along the way. The owner is a very nice man, and I was happy to start working with him, initially, but the experience was not very organized. The first little hiccup was after he came out and gave us a quote, when he called back to change the quote, because it'd been too low, before. There was also a slight scheduling conflict, and they weren't able to come out when he first arranged for it. This wasn't a huge deal, but it was kind of inconvenient, and I didn't appreciate that it was almost treated as my fault, as though I'd picked an inconvenient time to get the work done, or something... On On the same day the work was supposed to be done, the supplies were dropped off and one of the boxes of wood was the wrong colour, and had to be replaced, so there was a short wait, for this.
The workers who installed the floor did a wonderful job on the flooring itself, as I mentioned, but weren't very organized or tidy, and did not clean up our yard before going home for the night, for instance. They also didn't protect the preexisting flooring, and many of their tools left scratches-- small damage that's not terrible, but definitely could have been avoided, and that I'd have liked to be compensated for.
Again, the finished work looks great, but I think the unexpected subcontractors that the work was hired out to, and the changing around of the quote and initial appointment made the whole experience a little less than perfect.
