The company pulled through. They were professional, responsible, and gave us as customers what we were looking for. That was top notch, but the quality of the contractors was unfortunate.
In the beginning, my experience was horrible, but the Floor Coverings International of San Mateo franchise owner took it upon herself to fix what was wrong. Initially, we found that the contractor this franchise sent us for a hardwood refinishing came and did a poor job that almost wrecked our floors.
After we called, the franchise owner came to look and agreed with us that the work had been done wrong. Basically, we had to refinish everything with another contractor they sent. The owner fortunately took the cost upon herself to cover all the additional work done by the second contractor, who we can hire directly if we ever need more work done.
I think you just need to pay attention to the fact that I didn't get the impression initially that the company does a lot of hardwood refinishing. They probably do a lot more with other types of floor coverings. I would say it would be good for them to let customers know beforehand what type of work to expect from contractors.
The initial contact with the company was good and polished, but it's the work they do that counts. I think they should give a better preview of their previous hardwood work that had been done and explain what can be expected.
