My two friends and I found this custom tour wonderfully educational and enjoyable. Carolyn Johnson is extremely knowledgeable; she gave a well-rounded view of the development of early Haarlem as well as life in Harlem in the 19th and 20th century, including the political, entertainment economic and civil rights aspects. She provided a different sense of American history and its complexities. Carolyn brings to light the changing life of Harlem, and anticipates the good that is to come. She is personable and a joy to be with. She clearly knows and loves Harlem, saying she would not live anywhere else. Take this tour! you'll be glad you did!
