Somewhat Pleased

We purchased a Bosch dishwasher and were told that if we opted for delivery and installation, we would not be charged sales tax. The delivery person was unable to install the dishwasher, not our fault that the style of dishwashers had changed. However, we were then charged sales tax. I called to complain and was told that there was nothing that could be done. I tried to explain that we did not refuse the installation, in fact we had to end up doing the installation ourselves. Very unhappy about this "rule".

I apologize for the confusion about the tax you were charged on your dishwasher purchase. If we install your dishwasher you don't have to pay the tax associated with your purchase. However, our installers aren't plumbers, electricians, or carpenters and your installation went above our capability for a normal install. Therefore, the State of Illinois requires us to charge you tax. I recommend calling your local legislator to voice your dissatisfaction with the tax code. Thank you for your patronage.
