We had used AJR Wallboard & Plastering because we had some water damage in a small laundry room with a washer and dryer and a small bathroom with just a toilet in it. A main drain pipe had burst, which tore up the walls. These guys sent an appraiser out. We hired them because they gave us the lowest bid for putting up new wall board and to plaster. We started out getting an estimate for wall boarding and painting, but $1000 just to paint a space totaling 8' x 12' is unheard of. The pipe got fixed by a plumber. AJR came in and did the wall boarding. The appraiser should have told the guys that did the wall board what was originally on there, which was 3/8" wallboard and 1/2" of concrete board then plaster. They only put in 1/2" wallboard, then plastered over it. Now, there is a depression because there is a gap and the hot water that goes through the pipe is making the wallboard sag. They did the plaster all right. It was kind of sloppy around the pipe. Some holes around the pipes. He stuffed in a cloth like mesh material and then plastered over it around the pipes. So, instead of nice and smooth, it's bumpy and not fully covered. Very sloppy. The guy basically did a good job. I can't really find fault in how he did his job. The appraiser should have told him what to use. Overall, it was a decent job. It's just that the finishing touches weren't there. It cost us $750 for the wallboard and plastering, which wasn't bad. My wife and I ended up painting the rooms ourselves for the cost of 1 gallon of paint. I would recommend AJR to other people.
