Garage door springs

Gave them the measurements for the broken spring and they wanted the old spring to measure so I had to back to the customer and take off and bring the broken spring in so I dropped it off and they called the next day which was fine I picked up the new springs and they called size was 3” shorter and 3/4” bigger around so why did I need the old springs if they weren’t going to match size doesn’t matter glad to get the springs and customer is back up and running just extra running around also I still haven’t got weather strip for my 18’ and 9’ door

Thank you for the detailed feedback—we understand how the extra trip felt unnecessary, and we appreciate you sticking with us through the process.

Garage door springs are not a simple “match what was there” component. While measurements like length and diameter are part of the process, they are only starting points. Torsion springs are engineered to counterbalance the exact weight and configuration of the door, not just replicate the old spring.

In many cases—especially on older or builder-grade setups—the original springs are not properly sized or are lower cycle. When we evaluate a spring, we use the old one along with door weight, height, track radius, and drum configuration to determine the correct torque and lift characteristics.
That can result in a spring that is a different length or wire size but is actually better matched to the door and often upgraded to a higher cycle life for longer service intervals.

Our goal is always a properly balanced door—one that lifts smoothly, reduces strain on the opener, and improves longevity of the entire system.

That said, we do recognize your point about the extra trip to bring in the spring, and we appreciate your patience. We’re glad to hear your customer is back up and running.

As for the weather seal on your 18’ and 9’ doors, we will follow up on that right away to get it resolved.

Thank you again for your business and your honest feedback—it helps us continue to improve.
