Go-to guys
Been getting cars serviced by this group nearly 10 years. E28 project car, E92, Audi. These guys know their BMWs both classic and modern and are the place to go in near-NoVa esp if you're not getting free warranty service. I've watched the shop and its staff grow and have been happy with the results. They're more thorough and knowledgeable than dealer service, and definitely cheaper.
These are enthusiasts, not just mechanics. They've got a deep understanding of BMWs, tell it like it is, are professional and flexible. You won't get a paper floor mat or loaner car, but they'll give you a lift, let you pet their dog, and you know you're with somebody who "gets" your car and its issues and will take the time to figure out the quirks. Charlie, Greg, Mike, et al won't just rattle off what the TSB might tell others to say in explaining your repair needs, you're gonna get inside baseball knowledge on what's up based on their many years of servicing these cars.
If it's a job they can't do in-house, like minor bodywork, inspection, customer-sourced parts, windshields, wheel refurbishing, etc, they've got a deep network and will get it done for you without an obnoxious markup or sending you all over town. These people live this shop – there may be a time-card clock in there but this crew is more of a family. (When’s the last time the dealer service rep took you into the shop bays to actually show you the issue?)
