Totally what I expected from an AZ AC company
I called them with complete apprehension. Dealing with AC companies over the last 25 years gives me anxiety just thinking of calling someone. I called several companies when our AC was acting up. I decided to call Alaskan because of the radio spots. I called them, I was told that there was a $129.00 diagnostic fee. I told them what was wrong, and it just needed the coils cleaned. I asked if the cost of the call would include something as basic as coil cleaning. I was told that they would have to determine that when they got here. They told me if it just needed cleaning, the service fee would be deducted from the service. I said I did not want to be pressure sold on a warranty program.
They showed up and told me that the coils needed to be cleaned. They used my hose and ladder. After the person was finished, he tried several times to sell me on their “programs”. I refused and told him to charge me for the repair. I was given a price quote of over 500 dollars to clean my coils. I was then told that they would have to charge a 10 precent additional amount since I was not a “member” in their programs. So, the final amount was now 600 dollars. They charged not only the initial 129 fee, but added another 129 fee for a service call, on top of the diagnostic fee. The service call fee was never disclosed.
The service person told me a bunch of techno-jargon that really didn’t mean anything. I know this because I called my brother in Nevada that is a HVAC professional and put him on speaker. My brother told me that what the guy said was not even a thing.
Now I am into coil cleaning for 600 dollars, and the best part is, my AC is still acting the same. What they did was rip me off and take my money. I do have to admit I kind of expected that, since ALL ac companies are the same. To add insult to injury, I called them to ask about how my invoice was itemized, the young lady on the phone said would have someone call me back within 48 hours. That was over a week ago, I’m still waiting for that call.
