Replacing a capacitor for a Goodman Air conditiioner
I want to say that within 3 hours of my initial call to Alaskan a technician was on site and this was on Saturday 6/26 at 9:00PM. The technician had to change a capacitor. Here is the problem, I looked up the price of the capacitor at Amazon and at most it cost $25. I was charged $650 for this repair. Now I realize it was after hours and that needs to be taking into consideration but if this is not price gouging I don't know what is. To make matters worse the technician was trying to prove to me I needed freeon and advised the AC won't work without it. I asked what this would cost and he explained that since I needed R22 which is being phased out it would cost an additional $1400. I told him I would pass on this. He also advised I will be needing a new AC and his team could install one from $12,500 to 20,000, The timing of service was excellent the pricing was absurd. This technician belongs in sales and not out there servicing the product. I was flabbergasted with this individual's demeanor. It was like money grows on trees. A very dissatisfied customer.
