Whiners, losers and saddening
Up-front, I hope the 2 "men" that came to attend my move are never called into a military situation that requires sacrifice and commitment. They will be of no use. The TMAAT website touts its commitment to responsible customer service in light of the COVID-19 situation. Upon arrival at the move-from place and upon entry I pointed to the box of masks when the complaint started that "their too hot, blah, blah, blah" to which I merely repeated "there are are the masks" to which he begrudgingly understood that there was no option and donned the mask. Upon reviewing the move items / process, the first guy went to get the second guy who walked into my move-from place (with the first guy -- now out of the mask) and upon telling the second guy "there are the masks", he replied that he refused to wear a mask. I immediately and angrily demanded that they "get out of my house". To be sure, I added a profanity to describe his irresponsibility (and because I was very very angry by this point). I called TMAAT to inform them that I had just fired the two guys that showed for refusing to wear a mask as I described the TMAAT website that abundantly touted their commitment to COVID safety. Again, the guy started off with whining about being too hot , blah, blah, blah and again I cut him off to describe his websites verbiage (now lip-service) to safety during COVID. He offered to get me guys that would wear masks that day (at first he said for 2 days later that was not an option for me). At any rate, I assumed TMAAT would not call back -- and I was right.
I'm 65 years old and did not want to do the job myself, but found a couple of students more than willing to help and wear mask while doing so. I wore a mask the entirety of the long hot day as I rented a truck and got the job done. It was far from comfortable wearing the mask on the hot and humid day, but I persevered. After reading some of the TMAAT reviews, it looks like I may have escaped another bullet in terms of the frequent overcharging and general worker laziness I've read about.
So, Normandy soldiers they will never be -- they could not possibly even comprehend the meaning of sacrifice for the common good. They did hire some PR guys to hype up their website for COVID marketing purposes -- again, lip service. Be vigilant and certainly don't bother with these guys as all they'll do is potentially spew germs into your old house, new house and all over you and your stuff.
