Tremendous Experience
We first contacted Avista Consulting Group in 2002 because the company was being sold to a private equity group. We were transitioning from a very entrepreneurial management culture to a broader organization reporting to a board of directors. This also included significant upgrades to our senior management team. We wanted help going through the transition. We interviewed several consulting firms and chose Avista Consulting Group.
Avista has provided consulting services to both the entire organization and for individual members of the senior management team. They interviewed the management team and conducted a survey of the entire organization. The result was a series of suggestions. We implemented some but not all of their suggestions. Some of their suggestions we did not implement were do to budget reasons. For senior management team members, Avista has acted as an individual coach for personal and professional growth.
We decided to stop using them in 2007 after we went through a significant series of organizational seminars with them. Our decision to stop using Avista was based largely on budget constraints. At the time, we cut back on all non-essential spending. In addition, a lot of what we engaged them to do was accomplished. We are a very different organization from where we were in 2003. Avista helped us to change significantly and, as a result, our organizational and management structure is much more stable now. We will go back to using them at some later point.
I am very pleased with the results of working with Avista Consulting Group. I formed a great relationship with Keith Merron. I gained insights into myself and identified areas for growth. At an organizational level, we have made a lot of progress. We have taken a young team and turned it into a mature organization.
A significant part of the value they bring is to work with the leadership team to identify the aspects that are impeding and creating growth. One of Avista's most valuable services is their diagnostic capabilities. They can observe your firm and see things that an insider cannot see. They can then point out the processes and culture that need to be fixed to enhance growth.
