Due to an aesthetic issue we had with the remodel, we decided to use a quartersawn Brazilian cherry wood. Flooring Alternatives had a good source for it and it was certified lumber. We are planning to purchase cork for the rest of the house, as cork is more renewable because it does not involve cutting down trees but rather harvesting the bark.
