Installed the 1" flex gland on our 1983 Ski Nautique. the hardest part of the install was the removal of the prop shaft coupler. Once removed the oem stuffing box was removed by cutting the rubber hose. the flex gland slid over the shaft slowly to insure the rubber seal would not get damaged on the keyway slot.
I cleaned the prop and coupler surfaces with emory cloth prior to reinstallation. coupler was installed using antisieze. checked transmission and shaft coupler for alignment and reattached.
Looks like a quality flex gland that should give us years of service and eliminate preforming routine maintenance on the old style stuffing box.
